The last couple of days have been very exciting for me and the rest of the family. My grandson was born on March 12 just 10 minutes after midnight. Elizabeth and Mike were at the hospital for a scheduled delivery early in the morning March 11. Elizabeth didn't have the easiest labor but remembering Sophia's labor it was probably better in some ways. I know from my own experience that no matter how much pain a mother is and no matter how many hours the pain continues, the end result is all worth it. Just look at the beautiful boy...

I miss my Sophia right now, I wish I could see Baby Chase with her. So many memories of when we brought Elizabeth home from the hospital 26 yrs ago, remembering Phillip being so in love with his Bettie, that's what he called her and to this day it's still her family nickname. He was only 2 yrs and 3 mon old, like Sophia that just turned 3. Well, the last couple of days have been very emotional, not in a bad way but in a joyous way. When I am happy I tend to cry sometimes easier than when I am sad. It's the portuguese in me, my parents have always been that way too! And I remember my maternal grandmother being that way too. For anyone that is a grandparent you know the the joy and excitement a grandparent feels at times like this. Soon (2 weeks or so) I will be going to Pinehurst to meet my grandson. Mike and Elizabeth have the perfect size family of 4 now! Since I am so far away right now I can't wait to see new pictures of Sophia and Chase together... Elizabeth will tomorrow post some more on her blog. http://salvogfamily.blogspot.com/
